Our history

In 2019, our founders Rashida Kamara and Nadia Bangura joined forces to host a local medical supply drive in the United States. With the support of our community, we raised enough supplies to fill a 1 carry-on suitcase, which we joyfully donated to a clinic at a local teaching university in Freetown. Inspired by the impact we were able to make, a year later, we decided to take our efforts a step further. Through a combination of a GoFundMe campaign and a lively happy hour fundraiser, we successfully raised approximately $4,000 in funds to support crucial healthcare resources. This experience opened our eyes to the immense need for affordable and accessible healthcare in Sierra Leone. Motivated by our previous successes and the desire to make a lasting difference, in 2022, we made the bold decision to establish Project +232 as a registered 501(c)(3) organization. The name "+232" represents Sierra Leone's country code, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to the people of Sierra Leone and their well-being. Our work is driven by our deep-rooted compassion and dedication to improving the health and well-being of the people we serve. We are immensely grateful for the support of our generous donors, partners, and volunteers who have joined us on this incredible journey. Together, we are building a brighter future for the people of Sierra Leone, one healthcare initiative at a time.

Our Mission

At Project +232, our paramount mission is to pave the way for accessible and affordable healthcare for the people of Sierra Leone, particularly within the marginalized communities that often bear the brunt of inadequate resources. Through a multifaceted approach encompassing community health outreach clinics, educational programs, and strategic collaborations with local healthcare providers, we are steadfastly working to bridge the gap in healthcare resources. Every initiative we undertake is a step towards creating a tangible impact in the lives of individuals across Sierra Leone.

As we continue on this noble journey, our collective energy propels us forward. With each initiative we undertake, each life we touch, and each barrier we break, we are sowing the seeds of a brighter future for Sierra Leone. Project +232 is not just an organization; it is a movement fueled by compassion, driven by purpose, and dedicated to fostering sustainable change. Together, hand in hand, we are authoring a new chapter in the narrative of healthcare in Sierra Leone—one marked by resilience, compassion, and lasting transformation.
